The origin of Primus with Yeast

HAVE YOU TRIED OUR PRIMUS WITH YEAST?

__Right across from our brewery, you’ll find Brasserie Brouwershof. Traditionally, this is where the brewery visits come to an end. In addition to our well-known beers, you are able to taste Primus with Yeast: a unique beer with a unique story. __

At the beginning of the 1900s, there was a beer tap on the outer wall of what is now the kegging hall. Everyone at the brewery knew about the “beneficial effect” of this tap and would pour themselves a glass of beer from it. The brewery’s neighbors, however, and the local railway workers, knew where to find this tap as well. They would bring pitchers to the brewery to stock up on unfiltered beer. Back then, they already knew that the yeast gives a magic touch to the beer.

The Primus with Yeast you find at Brasserie Brouwershof today, is quite comparable. Unfiltered, straight from the storage tank and absolutely delicious! Unfortunately we are unable to offer Primus with Yeast in all cafes. This is because the beer yeast would sink to the bottom of the bottle or keg, and ‘stick’ to it.

Rumors has it that Primus with Yeast is delivered to Brasserie Brouwershof via an underground pipe that is connected to the brewery. Fact or fiction? For us to know...
